Texas 2X2 Tuesday: RRRALPH

RRRalph by Lois Ehlert

Family dog RALPH can say several different words, including where he is (on his doghouse "ROOF") and that the ground feels "ROUGH." It's a giggle-worthy premise; and doubling the fun are Ehlert's brilliantly composed collages. Ralph, with zipper teeth, button eyes, and a flip-top nose, is so expressive that, though his repeated figure dominates the art, he offers something new each time.  Horn Book, Starred review (Fall 2011)
In last week's 2X2 selection we learned that Edwin could understand and communicate better than we thought, as illustrated in Edwin Speaks Up.  Now we learn that Ralph can talk, too.  This another book that you will enjoy reading out loud with your mom or dad, or even your own dog!
